Residential Support Worker working with Young Adults with Learning Disabilities
We are currently looking for a Residential Support Worker in the Shrewsbury area to work with young adults with learning disabilities.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- To provide emotional and practical support to these young adults, helping them meet their personal care needs sensitively and appropriately to a high standard, including personal hygiene, assistance with laundry and preparing meals and drinks, in accordance with their relevant care plans.
- To help young adults to take any prescribed medication, complying with all medicine policies, including storage, administering and record keeping.
- To assist in devising, implementing and reviewing care plans.
- We are looking for someone who is caring and compassionate, able to promote dignity and autonomy, with the patience to assist these young adults on a day to day basis, positively contributing to the creation of a supportive and homely atmosphere where they can achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their lives.
- You must be able to deal with stressful, emotional, demanding and challenging situations, work on your own initiative and as part of a team, have good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive professional relationships with young adults.
Previous experience and NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Care is preferred although not essential as additional training will be provided by Social Work Choices. Applicants will require a CRB check before taking up employment working with vulnerable adults.
The post requires employees to work on a shift basis and own transport is advantageous.
